The first to settle near the river were the Mikmaq, using the river as portage. The name origin is from the Mikmag; Epetkutogoyek, meaning: the river bends like a bow. The nickname is the chocolate river because the water looks like chocolate. Nova Scotia founded the river in 1968. They were expelled in 1755 during the 7 years of war. In 1968, a wall made of rock and earth was built between Moncton and Riverview to prevent flooding. This restricted the movement of fish and was reopened on April 14th, 2010, finished in 2015
2. What are tides and waves?
Tidal Bore: The Tidal Bore is from the natural surging waves in the Bay of Fundy that occurs twice daily. When the waters in the Bay surge through this causes the water to surge through the petitcodiac in one wave. The tidal bore can reach 3 to 60 cm. The moon affects these tides by pushing and pulling with gravity.The Super Moon caused the tidal bore to be bigger because the moon was closer to the earth.

the title boar eroads the mud and rocks around it widening the river.

erosion is when the water pressure and rise and fall of tides chips away at rocks. the tides brush away the rock over time with pressure and movement.

when water, wind ect creats friction against the land to break it apart.

the erosions widenes the river and makes the waves and tides shorter and move slower

it drops mud and dirt into the river perhaps the cause of the muddiness.

fish like salmon, cod, shad and bass.

since 2010 the health of the river has signifigly improved and has returend to its former glory.
13.How can the ecosystem be protected?
by reducing pollution and creating safe habitats for fish to live.

some groups are the water shed alliance the international river.
15.What are the issues people are concerned about?
people are mostly concerned about fish dieing, and also the huge amount of pollution in the river
